TOTSCo — The One Touch Switching Company — operates the centralised industry platform for UK switching, managing secure message exchange between Communications Providers for both residential and business switching. This page is Switching for Business's practical guidance and is not affiliated with TOTSCo.
What connecting to the Hub involves
Connecting is not simply opening an API. It means onboarding as a participant, implementing the message specifications correctly, passing industry validation, and operating the connection reliably around the clock — a business Switch Order Reference can stay open for up to 180 days. The specific steps and requirements change over time and should be taken from TOTSCo directly.
The Hub is not the only route
The TOTSCo Hub is a centralised model. The Connected Services Framework takes a different approach: an open, decentralised framework in which Managed Access Providers exchange messages directly with one another, with no central hub and no licensing cost. Both carry live business switching traffic today.
Where NowYoYo stands
NowYoYo completed onboarding with TOTSCo for business switching in August 2025 and exchanges live business messages across the TOTSCo Hub as well as peer-to-peer over the CSF with other MAPs. A Communications Provider can therefore reach the Hub through an already-onboarded Managed Access Provider instead of building and validating its own connection.
